My aunt was raised
being told she couldn't
go to college
because she's a woman.

And my grandmother was raised
being told that because she's white
she has more rights
than some other people.

And my grandfather was raised
being told because he's
the wrong type of white
he shouldn't speak his native language
and he should try to blend in
with other whites.

And if they aren't forgiven
then how can
your upbringing
validate that marriage
is just for a man and a woman
or a woman and a man?
